This is an interesting question. It boils down to three factors: At what quality will you be recording For how long do you want to keep recordings Are you going to store other data (such as music, photos, or other videos) on the MythTV machine When doing the calculations for how much disk space to buy, remember to set aside about 10GB for the operating system.
